If you are going down that road you will have to extend the battery cables as the Red top is a lot shorter than the OEM battery. Club Exped trailer

Hi ENT
Not necessarily I just thought it were the battery to have, and as my 05 D3 is still on it's original I thought I,d replace it!
What does everyone else fit as a main battery?

As for as I know the Optimas are fitted as the Aux battery and not the main cranking battery. There was a chap on fleabay selling genuine LR 950cca batteries for a knock down price. Club Exped trailer

I don't think that the "red top"will be suitable.
The LR battery is a lead-calcium battery. The original was 925 CCA, and has now been replaced by a 950 CCA battery.
I would either purchase one from a LR dealer, or go Varta (who I believe now supply the battery to LR).
