Hi All
there has just been realesed for the new fiesta an aftermarket screen that upgrades the fiesta one but as its just out I dont have any information on it as yet I am awaiting some details arriving in the next few days , however I dont know if integrating into the cars infomation would be possible and we have had also had notification of a replacement headunit for D3 owners that looks OE more info to follow this unit has a 7.5 inch screen sat nav ,dvd.mp3.mp4.vcd and you can connect rear cameras ,monitors ,digital tv with no mucking around, it will be a straight plug and play unit and will work with steering wheel controls as it comes with OE plugs.
I have only seen pictures of this unit and it either looks dark grey or black,I cant be sure of the colour as you couldnt tell from the picture
Cheers
Mike

LCD upgrade on Discovery 4 |
|
I have the same problem as eddomak. The D4 is a big car and parking/reversing cameras front and back would be a useful option. Has anyone uprgraded the monochrome lcd to an after-market touchscreen lcd? I made enquiries with an electonics expert in Australia. He told me the unit shown in the following link is for a D3, not a D4 (which apparently have a different dash and different wiring internally).

The controls below the touch screen on the higher spec models seem to be different from the lower spec models. Will this be an issue if the screen is upgraded?
The electronics expert here does not know of any reputable manufacturer which makes a unit to enable the upgrade.

Hi David and Welcome,
The link you showed actually looks like the D2 facia not even the D3.
D3 has two holes to each side and no tabs on the bottom.
The only upgrade I know of put a touch screen in the place of the small screen (low spec model) and put the small screen where the cup holders are.
Ideal would be to have the present screen input into the touch screen.
There is no aftermarket mod for the facia that I know of and is unlikely as they now come with the HK unit with the sub in the back so not many will want to upgrade the HU.
PS where in Sydney? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Probably a bit far for the Epping Pub meet then? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

My GS has the fiesta screen in it too, I borrowed an 11 reg hse for a week with all the cameras and nav set up apart from reverse cameras and dab I found the rest a load of poo. Rally not a great nav experience and preferred my Tom Tom. So I fitted an adapt powered iPhone 5 mount with a Brodie clip, ran the aux cable through the left of the trim so it clips into the iPhone aux I love my iPhone tom-tom Next on the list is http://www.landrovertrailair.co.uk/ job done, although I tow a caravan I wonder how good it would be as a reversing cam as well as a tow assist.....

Hi I am in same boat with 2011 MY TDV6 D4
This is my current project
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-GPS-Car-Nav...336bbb2ee2
I opted for 5" rather than 7" touch screen
There are all sorts of variations up to DVD,Bluetooth,GPS,rear camera etc etc
Can be wireless or wired - cheap as
There is a camera option which fits into one of the number plate lights instead of trying to fit into the 40mm x 40mm popout on habdle.[/img] +======
