Overall Impressions of Discovery 3? |
|
Having just completed a NOP survey, I thought it might be interesting to try to work out how I would summarise my overall impressions of the Discovery 3 based on my personal experience as an owner/customer of Land Rover but in just a single paragraph of under 250 words (sounds like one of those competitions on the back of a cereal packet ), and I came up with :-
"An excellent vehicle overall that is a huge advance over Discovery II in terms of refinement, performance and features BUT from my experience of my vehicle has been let down on 3 important areas: (a) poor factory QC and items not then picked up at PDI; (b) a variety of electrical/software problems & glitches that have unsettled my confidence in the vehicle in view of LR's failures/refusal to resolve them; and (c) experience of a quite unacceptably poor level of client care from LR Customer Relations Department to an extent that I would have regarded as totally unsatisfactory even for a manufacturer of low priced consumer goods never mind a high value car. If Land Rover could resolve these issues it would be a vehicle I could wholeheartedly recommend to anyone, but while these remain unaddressed by the manufacturer I would remain cautious about recommending the vehicle to friends or family"
Haven't counted them but I reckon I must be under 200 words!!

Ecosse, you know I am with you on this even though I appear to be getting some positive contact with LR now. However, I have no actual results and any repairs I have done by my own means at my own cost.
My opinion:
Vehicle in principle is excellent
LR-CS initially was non existant, but in my case slowly moving forward now
Vehicle electrics are of great concern to me
Finish not too good- Several important grommets left out-replaced by me
External plastic trim is already fading after 1 month
Vehicle build, a little shabby under the skin
Further orders by me have now been put on hold

Obviously only having the car for a week, my experience has been different.
"Excellent vehicle, massive step forward in comfort, drivability and economy over the D2. Excellent dealer couldnt have made the experience of buying a landrover any better. I would happily recommend this car to anybody."
The car was just built and has the latest software.

Anyone read the LROI feature of DS3 in the Sahara. Vince Cobley had to limp home with an electrical fault on the injecters and the other one had a transmission error, which was cleared by rebooting! They concluded that the car is awesome and they were sure LR would sort the electical glitches. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

BN,
On the topic of external trim, I noticed mine has weathered a little, but this weekend, in between the rain, I applied Autoglym bumper care (the green stuff) and this really brings it back to the original colour with a nice waterrepellent finish.
Its possible that LR have been fruglal with UV filters in the plastic and this now means a monthly application of treatment (which usually contains surface UV filters) to keep them looking good.
