P0100-00 (2F) Mass or volume air flow circuit error?

Hi - I'm playing with my new iid reader and have this code coming up. I'm getting pretty poor fuel economy (20-22mpg rural driving) and want to get the car running optimally.

I've done the following;
1) cleaned MAF element with cleaner
2) cleaned the MAP sensor which was filthy
3) unplugged the MAF and found the car ran smoothly still. I did get a new error relating to the intake sensor so I think the MAF is getting power.
4) replaced MAF with brand new one but no change.

When I check the live values I don't seem to be getting any voltage to the MAF. I've looked at the wiring and the plug and it all looks as it should. No real symptoms to speak of. The car drives ok but can't comment on power as I've not owned it long enough.

What can I try next? I've got a multimeter but still have to teach myself how to use it Whistle

Any advice greatfuly recieved.

If the MAF is not reading, it's likely faulty, especially if there is a fault code stored for it Whistle

Also check that you have fuse 17 fitted in the fuse box beside battery. A few people have for some reason had it missing.

Hmm.. Fuse 17 is missing. I will pick up a spare and try it later.

What does it do?

Fantastic - put a 15amp fuse in slot 17 and now no faults at all Smile

I am at a loss to understand how a car with a full service history and 120k on the clock can be missing a fuse from an important sensor?

Robbie. Having had your help through most of a frustrating Sunday all those years ago, this is probably my claim to fame after 10 years - an ability to diagnose a missing fuse.
I would love to know why they are missing and the car can perform ok for so long with only a low voltage supply to the MAF sensor and then eventually throw up the fault until full voltage applied.

I had fault code p0100-00, checked the fuse and it was missing.
Rectified now.
Thank you Thumbs Up
