Just had the P080 Voluntary Safety Recall letter drop through the door
Mine is in the VIN range but is absolutely fine at the moment.
Labour time is stated as 2.5 hours but they will probably need the car for a day
How urgent is this ?? or is it case of how lucky do I feel
Is there any chance the car will drive worse when it comes back ?

Is the VIN range and service action for this documented anywhere, please?

"I've seen two references quoted in relation to this known issue - recall P080, and Service Bulliten LTB00680.
I've seen the affected VIN range (for D4's) quoted as AA510178 - CA652214. Our car falls into this range.
The dealer and LR Customer Relations however tell me that on TOPIx the VIN range affected by P080 is much tighter : 626753 - 653082. "

Hi there,
Just beat me on this one. My recall letter has just been opened and mine falls into the range. Will book it in now.
Never had any problems, they state in the letter that the vehicle may not start or may start and operate as normal for a period of time before cutting out without any detectable warning signs.
A new crankshaft sensor will be fitted.
Well at least they bothered to inform me.

Just spoken to the Service manager at my dealer and while my car is in the range it is not on the current list but is in the "second batch." Hence nothing outstanding on topix.

Gents - you don't want to be driving at speed when this fails. Engine stalls, so you lose power assistance for the steering almost instantly. I can confirm that it's not easy to steer a Disco4 without it. Depending how quickly you are going at the time, and how many times you need to re-apply the brakes to safely come to a stop, there may be enough residual vacuum in the brake sevo. Or there may not. In which case you'll need a strong leg.....
My advice is to get it done ASAP.
Ours was outside the affected VIN range, but we still suffered a crank sensor failure. It came back yesterday - all running well.2012 D4 HSE for her

Well mines in on 21st at 8.45am. said they wanted it for the day or longer although the recall letter states two & a half hours. May be they might have to fit the other bit. The trigger wheel. Who knows????

P080: VIN 626753 - 653082 (years 2012-2013)
Difficult to say without knowing your VIN. Mine's a MY13, but outside the VIN range. If it helps, my build date was 16th Jan 2013, so if yours was after that, then it won't be affected D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
D4 MY13 HSE Lux - RLD/IID BT
P38 RR - Sad parting
110 - Even sadder parting

Looks like mine falls within that range. Guess I'd best call a local Stealer

Mine has been confirmed by LR customer service as needing a recall. I've got a week to get it done before we ship the car to Kenya!
Do you think I'll get a courtesy car?
