P1247 Low turbo pressure, checked manifold and not cracked

So I’ve been getting limp mode every so often on my 2010 Disco 4. It’s weird as I can drive it for days no problem at all then it happens. Turn it off and back on and it’s fine again for days. I’ve replaced one of the MAFF sensors and also the MAP sensor. New seals fitted to the throttle body as they weren’t great. Every now and then I’m still getting limp mode low turbo pressure. When not in limp mode it’s as fit as it’s always been so I’m assuming turbo’s still good. I’ve smoke tested it today and manifolds are not leaking. Where else should I check ? No smoke seen from egr pipes either.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Mike,

I have these symptoms with my 2010 D4 too. I think it is a sticky actuator arm on the secondary turbo, as I usually get this fault when starting a warm engine. I think the error is more likely if the secondary turbo has not been used for a while. Therefore if you have a few bouts of hard acceleration on a regular basis it may help.
At my last service I had the indy look into the issue, but as they could not reproduce the fault it was hard to fix. They did lubricate the actuator arm, which kept the error away for a bit, however since my car is not in daily use, I suspect it soon got a bit sticky again.
Every time I clear the error with my IID it does not come back again on the same journey, which again make it difficult to resolve.

Regards,
Steve

Brilliant thanks Steve, just been reading old posts on this problem, it would make sense so fingers crossed it’s that. New arm on order !

Well just to update I’ve inspected the actuator and arm etc and it looks in good condition etc. The pivot is the old style ie with the nut on it but there is no corrosion and it moves freely. Could it be the actuator itself I wonder ? Has anyone had this with the CSOV ?
Cheers Mike

My D4 does the same. Mind you started from a worse point this is progress for mine! I found the little pipe that enters the back of the elbow piece at the front of the throttle body had broken so just repaired that and replaced the seal at the mouth of the throttle body because it was leaking air and oil from there. So I will look out for how you get on with a new actuator arm.

Well I fitted the new actuator etc and so far all is good. Done quite a few miles and no issues. So it’s looking like the low turbo pressure was a dodgy actuator. Can’t complain really as it’s been on since new and I’m at 156k miles so far !

Sorry to jump on this thread but I have a similar problem on my 2012 D4. There appears to be a little smoke leaking from around where the egr pipes connect to the throttle body (sorry if that’s not what these parts are Laughing ) I recorded a video which if you look closely in the middle you’ll see the smoke.

https://youtube.com/shorts/8_j-2U6yaZQ?feature=share

I haven’t done anything yet but I wondered if you think this is the likely problem? The only error I get is the P1247 one. I can usually make it around 100 meters then the warning light comes on and I get reduced power Big Cry

Any help would be awesome. I only got my D4 yesterday so not a great start Crying or Very sad

I couldn't see the smoke you mentioned. With mine it was the seals and pipe I mentioned earlier. If you can see smoke then pretty certain to be at least part of the problem.
