Park brake fault message - no lights - fault code C1A48
Hi all, hoping for a little advice with a fault in my D3.
Just purchased a 2006 D3 2.7 HSE. It's been stood for the better part of a year so has had a flat battery (now replaced).
It did have an issue with HDC/special programmes/other stuff and suspension lowered to stops as soon as it moved. Deleting fault codes and calibrating the steering angle sensor seems to have cured that. I can now move it up and down my driveway and all the warning lights stay off.
One fault remains.
On startup the message "Park brake fault" is displayed on the dash with a picture of a book. The same message is displayed on shut down. No warning lights are present. The park brake appears to work correctly and when applied the red warning symbol shows on the dash. My diagnostic reader shows the fault code C1A48. A bit of research seems to suggest that this is a failure in the warning light for the park brake.
Am I correct in thinking that the fault it is warning me about is a failure of the amber light in the dash?

Well, had a further look earlier today and it looks like my initial feelings may be right.
I see no amber park brake warning when the dash self tests (turning ignition on). I plugged the diagnostics tool in and I can turn on all the separate lights in the dash individually. The only exception seems to be the amber park brake light. When I turn this on nothing happens. Also, the dash ECU says that the amber park brake warning is on.
Looks like I need to pull the dash now to see if it's actually failed or if someone has stuck a bit of tape over it.

Was semi expecting this to be what I found...

Wishful thinking to hope it might be that simple. Guess I have a proper fault to diagnose then. Any pointers?
edit: looks like damaged wiring between the park brake module and the body control module. I'll have to jack the rear up and do some looking. Next time the weather's nice that is.

Well, final update for this fault...
It was a broken wire between the park brake module (PBM) and the body control module. The wire is solid green, I'd say dark green. Unlike others mine was broken as it came out of the plug on the PBM. Access wasn't too bad with the spare wheel removed.

I also had to revisit the "HDC/special programmes/other stuff" and suspension lowering fault. This was shown as a failure of the steering angle sensor, fault code C1B00. My diagnostic reader showed the steering wheel angle as about -108 Deg with the wheels pointing straight ahead. I had read that you could calibrate the sensor by turning the wheels lock to lock on startup but this didn't work for me. I calibrated the sensor through the diagnostic, now shows near 0 Deg with steering straight.

Imagine going to all the trouble to put a bit of tape on the warning light rather than just fix the problem

I can see why people end up doing that sort of thing though. Probably took it to a garage and got quoted for a replacement park prake module and/or dash etc. etc.
I feel for people who are at the mercy of others with problems like this. Not much obviously, and I quickly get over it as it means that I get to buy flash cars for peanuts.

Hello Garybee, good afternoon, I have the same fault code C1A48-01. I have already checked the actuator connectors, those in the rear left and front right wheel arches and I have all the cables in good condition, the fuses too I have looked at them and the handbrake does work both to put on and take off. Could you give me some advice on what else I can look at? Thank you.
