parking brake shoes corroded

Hi folks only me again.
So brakes, i have over the years changed the brakes a few times
And discs and calipers using bodsys bible, great info i may say.
On taking the bits of today i find the parking brake shoes are corroded
So work stopped and a set ordered.
Now i have never actually changed these before its looks like it
Could be full of stress, is changing them all ok of is there any pitfalls
In my plan or things to look out for.
And us there something like bodsys brake bible to keep me straight

Many thanks in advance for the replies

Well before you take the old ones off you should put it in service mode to give you more slack on the cable to ease refitting.

Don’t try now!

Also new shoes should be bed it
Put in special mode
Drive along and apply brake 3 times?
Don’t try u less it’s in the mode, else brakes will lock on very hard

Do you have an older version of the brake bible? In version 1.4 the service mode is described on page 23, see https://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/...pdf#page23

See page 27 on how to adjust the EPB and then page 32 forward on how to bed them in. It really does work.

If you’re replacing the shoes, do replace all the small parts (springs, clips,, knurlers, etc.) at the same time.

I too was surprised but it really wasn’t needed. You can do it with just the pedal and the EPB switch. Thumbs Up

The use for the tool I was getting at was to slacken the cable off before taking things apart.

If you don’t, getting the shoes back in can be a pain

I have just replaced mine and used the brake pedal & EPB switch. Had no problem fitting other than my old fingers & thumbs. I cannot get it into bedding in mode though
