First off welcome
secondly, you pays your money you takes your chances.
The one Sea Raider has linmked to may well be expensive but it appears to work without issue and was easy/quick to fit so surley the cost outweights the issues your are currently having.
Thirdly I would go back to supplier of your cable and explain the issues, they may have a quick fix in the form of a new cable MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone

Thank you for the welcome.
Thankfully the SOT is covered by eBay / PayPal so will be on its way back without any further costs; it was just frustrating that I ordered something which arrived not as advertised. The lead Sea Raider linked - in my opinion - is overpriced; whilst I may end up (begrudgingly) buying it anyway, I am at a loss to why a reasonably-priced harness is so difficult to source for a Disco 3 - I have had this Parrot installed without any issues in a fairly high-spec 3 Series (which also had a HK system) and then later in a Navara Aventura - both required SOT leads were sourced easily, were reasonably-priced and worked perfectly... why is this seemingly so hard this time around?... It’s not as if these are uncommon vehicles or anything?
Anyhow, is there no ‘generic’ part number for this lead? There seems to be many on eBay professing to fit - am I doing something wrong or are they really that hard to come by?
Cheers, Sam

With all respsect you are new to the Forum and Discovery ownership. You will quickly find that nothing is simple or easy on a Discovery and ownership is CERTAINLY not cheap
This forum is a wealth of knowledge and experience and will offer advice and help as many many of the things you want to do will have been tried and tested by many people on here
Those people will offer help and advice and that help and advice may not always be what you want to hear and it certainly will often cost more than you were expecting but and it is a very big but
It will be the easiest, quickets and often the cheapest way forward MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Does a wiring diagram exist of what a SOT harness should look like connected to the unit?

Hi Russel,
I was aware of how expensive Discovery ownership can be, but we’re not talking mechanical stuff here; it’s just an SOT harness.
In principle, there should be nothing different between an SOT harness desinigned and advertised to fit - say - an X5, or one designed to fit a Disco 3 HSE - they’re made from wire off the same spool, plastic connectors from the same box and - I presume - must be designed some kind of specification in order to differentiate one fiitment type from another. However, it would appear there IS a difference when it comes to Discos?; I have yet to be furnished with a ‘generic’ part number for the eBay bog-standard SOT lead but, rather, have been linked to quite a pricey ‘KRAM’ harness - I’m grateful for the suggestion but I am amazed that nothing else seems to exist! Why? If I was trying to find one to fit a Ferrari then I would expect them to be a little thinner on the ground, but a Disco?? There seems to be loads of SOT harnesses on eBay from seemingly-reputable companies who appear to specialise only in ICE - it makes me think that I’m the one who has made a fitment error or something... so the HK systems differ depending on the build year or something?
Again, I’m most probably just going to buy the KRAM lead but have I exposed a gap in be market here??
Cheers, Sam

Looking at the stuff on ebay, not a lot suitable for amplified cars.
This gives you the 3 pins you require for it to work (without a load of wires behind the dash!)
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/fitting-aft...phone+mute
You just need 3 metal terminals. It's possible you can buy a cheap kit off ebay, and remove 3 terminals.
For phone calls only, not Mp3

Hi,
Some of the ones for sale on eBay (including the one I bought / linked to in one of my previous posts) are advertised as being for Discos with the ‘premium’ amplified / HK sound system; at least from the pictures, these appear different to the other SOT harnesses offered for the standard / base sound system. As such, I’m baffled to whether they’ve messed up or I’ve failed a basic square peg / round hole test?
I want to be able to use the Parrot MKi9200 to its full capability so being able to stream BT music and internet radio is a must. I assume, therefore, that a harness would be a must?
I have previously considered a PURE Highway 600 - Is that as much of a ball ache as the Parrot seems to be?
Cheers, Sam

From a previous reply to an earlier thread -
I bought the Pure 600 last year (2016) for my Discovery 3 SE as I fancied the DAB part.
Bought it from Halfords and decided to fit myself as I wanted to hide all the cables.
The first unit worked well for all of 2 days and I have to say I was more that happy with it, however on day 3, I couldn't get it to connect with the aerial and no amount of faffing about with it could get it to work.
I returned to the branch and the 'Fitter' played with it for half an hour (he had to read the instructions to find out how to pair it etc).
He thereafter tried swapping out the head unit for another one and when that didn't work, swapped the aerial and again, no joy.
He contacted the Pure helpline who advised him to refund my money and return all the units they had in stock.
Refunded my £150 and promised to contact me if they could get to the bottom of things, never heard another thing.
I eventually fitted a Parrot and play Absolute radio from my phone thru the parrot.

Hi,
Yes I read that post before. However, I assume they can’t be too bad as it’s still one of their bestsellers - maybe it was just a dud? Not sure a like the battery-powered screen though.
