But every person on this thread said it was a quick turn around, no issues
We also had 2 passports for the kids issued in April, both sorted within 14 days, consistent with other comments in this thread
The advice is not to book a holiday unless you already have your passport. If you've booked before you've received a passport, thats not the Passport Offices issue...
What is an issue, is that your passport needs to be less than 10 years old, despite not being expired. Now that nearly caught us out (didn't expire till Apr 23, but was issued in Apr 12) We were the right side of the cutoff by 2 days
But that's a Brexit problem, not the PO, and not for this thread My D3 Build Thread

The reality is that the airports took a chance on staffing levels being enough for anticipated actually-turned-up travellers.
If they had re-recruited to pre-covid levels, and not had these numbers of passengers, they would have lost a lot of money..

Coming back through Heathrow the other week on an early flight the biggest hold up was immigration, nowhere near enough staff and the one person (Yes ONE PERSON) covering ALL the self service gates (around 15 of them) was simply overwhelmed - mainly as the instructions were not very clear and so about 7 in 10 people were standing in the wrong place (it's VERY sensitive).. and had to go again or got referred...
It would have been quicker to have gone through the non-UK passports holders section! A simple set of instructions or someone shouting out (as other travellers were doing) would speed things enormously..I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I fear it’s only going to get worse for flyers.
From March 2022:
“The UK aviation industry’s skills shortage continues to be exacerbated by a failure to reach an agreement on the movement of labor across borders following the country’s departure from the European Union (EU). Marc Bailey, chief executive of the British Business & General Aviation Association (BBGA), told the group’s conference today that high-level political obstacles continue to mean that UK companies have restricted access to pilots and maintenance professionals from other European countries.”

The supposed issue at the Passport Office is just another one of those little diversion tactics used by Governments to stop people looking at real problems. What sort of problems? Well, inflation is on the rise and household incomes are going the other way. Soon, no one will care about passports because they won't be throwing money away on foreign holidays.
Of course, the Tories will doubtless privatise the Passport Office, probably ensuring some of their mates make a killing out of it. And then our passports will not only be produced in a foreign country, the organisation sending them out will also be foreign. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
