Haven't found anything better than Plus Gas.
But...heat. Lots of lovely heat. Have occasionally used freeze spray and heat in cycles but wasn't convinced it made much difference compared to just heat cycles. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Try full fat Coke the proper stuff not cheap copies. A friend who used to have a fishing boat at Dungeness used to swear by it but once you have used it you probably won’t ever drink it again as good knows what it must do to your insides MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I use clear vinegar to refurbish many of the galvanised, plated and sheradised components on my Series 2a restoration project. I just buy 10 500ml bottles from Tesco (about 40p per bottle), fill a container with it and soak for a couple of days. Rinse with water and brush off residue.
Just make sure there is no aluminium on the part. It dissolves aluminium!

I've known (unfortunately) in the past mechanics of various competency levels coat bolts in brake fluid before fastening up on the basis it absorbs water readily, making rust form quickly and so... "it won't come loose"
Each to their own.... I see no ships........

Mad.
As far as I'm concerned bolt threads, always dry and clean...threadlock if you want them not to come undone...which also stops the threads rusting. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

add a 12v supply to this arrangement. very very good results.
if you want paint removing, swap the vinegar for caustic soda. doesn't need much either, just enough to make it pass current.
