United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Turbo oils seals in general do not like working with a high vacuum on the air side, so you can get premature seal failure, which in the extreme can end up with the engine doing its best to re-enact the big bang.
The biggest risk however is that with the butterfly closed at fairly high revs it will be destroyed and sucked into the engine. It may be mostly plastic, but there are a few metal bits as well, which would then cause a lot of expensive damage, including valves and pistons becoming intimately acquainted with each other - not good.

Ok thanks all of you, looks like its back to the dealer in the morning. I assume that the EGR's or butterfly need replacing.
