Phone ECU
Where is it please? Looked behind both rear clip out panels and can’t see it either side? Do I need to remove whole trim panels to see it and reset it by disconnecting it? Which side of the rear is it please?
I did all the fuses and relays in the box up under the glove box this morning and it’s changed nothing on my stereo.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

It is the rear drivers side boot panel, its more to the rear drivers door than the tailgate, if you remove the seatbelt pillar bolt and the screws holding the panel around that area you can move it enough to see it, but if you want to check it out proper you need to remove the whole panel.
It might even have had a D4 module fitted and if so it will be on the front passenger side tucked inside the centre consul from the bottom.

Found this today- easy enough when someone has kindly told you where to look. Its not the ECU. Tried with it connected and disconnected. No change.
Also removed the steering wheel air bag and the switch pack for the phone. Switch looks fine. Cleaned it all and tested it both connected and disconnected. Still no change. I think my stereo unit is kaput.
Anymore ideas before I go and source a new aftermarket solution?
I only listen to radio 4 and it seems a terrible shame to replace it for that......I miss the noise though.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

All I get on my stereo screen is phone mode and the volume for the phone will go up and down on the steering wheel and the unit itself.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

I did a hard reset a couple of weeks ago to no avail.
Frustratingly when you turn the ignition on the radio display flashes up with my radio 4 frequency the clock and all looks good- for about half a second then it comes back up phone.....
I an open to all suggestions . Had a lot of fun on the steep learning curve of modifying an Allen key to make a spring pulling tool to release the air bag this afternoon. I’m pretty capable technically, just devoid of anymore ideas as to a solution to my issue.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

That’s the ECU I discovered lurking behind the rearmost side trim panel. Tried the radio with it connected, disconnected and cleaned all the terminals with switch cleaner and tried that too. Is it possible this ECU is faulty and would if replaced fire up my stereo? I’m sort of clutching at straws now.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Took the stereo out once again this morning and did the disconnect the phone/ optical cable and reset the stereo/ ignition. Sound is restored. Thank you so much everyone who gave advice on this problem.
My Ariel cable is kaput- fell apart - but I’m sure I can get another one of those off here.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

I had already removed all the fuses for the phone and stereo. Relays too. Had the ECU all disconnected in the boot panel too. Had the steering wheel off- made a tool to remove the air bag- and disconnected/ cleaned all the connectors, all to no,avail. This cables from the stereo unit itself fixed it.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007
