Thanks! The logos needs to be more central so if a guests visit the site or my fb page etc they can not use the image to gain money for themselfs Etc As much as I hate it, I need to do it to protect myself 2009 Discovery 3 HSE - Gone

Lack of electric would not have been a problem if it had not been so wet, trying to get stuff dried out after each days walking was hard with limited heating.
The area was stunning and great to get the kids away from computers and phone, no signal where we were.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Mark agree on protecting yourself but I would try and keep it a little more discreet ...as I say to Jonathan if it came down to being able to prove it's your picture from a legal perspective there are other ways that this can be done. He therefore as you may have seen keeps the watermark either cornered or slightly more hidden in the picture.

DG I would agree commercial copy right would be easy to prove. However Mark is trying to protect himself from the individual copy right, the private person who sees his photos on his FB page or anywhere else he publishes them and decides to use the photo for a picture on their lounge wall. He does not charge a lot for these pictures and is just trying to make a little extra pocket money hence the water mark in a position where people cannot use the photo but instead come to Mark for a copy in their desired format.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Again agree Russell ..another way to stop them making a picture print out of it is to post a lower resolution online and then give them full resolution if they buy It's tricky ..Jonathan has had a number of his pics used without his permission on other websites where they just crop it out and try to pass it off as their own ..but the threat of legal action usually changes their mind 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Friend of mine has found some of her pictures in use (She only puts low res on public internet) and sends them an invoice for the use of the photograph - very often they pay up.
Low res copies is the way to go, but the logo in the middle is also common - might be worth just fading it back a little - still has the same effect but not so in your face.
I'd also include a web address to enable any potential purchasers to contact you! Mark.

Similar experience a few years ago.A German artist (through a friend) asked me to track down contact details for a soft drinks company, who,he been told, were using his work to decorate the packaging for their products without permission.
Managed to track them down for him and let him do the rest.....apparently when challenged they just basically shrugged their shoulders and paid up....they were quite happy to blatantly infringe copyright law, and,as he was based in Germany, assumed they would never get found out...
