Picked up my D4 this morning

Pick up the D4 in the morning

However, just had a call from dealer to say whilst on test drive they have had a stone come up and chipthe windscreen

They have ordered a new one and will collect the car and fit it when they get it in, is this a sign of things to come

can't remember either of the two brand new cars (one LR one VW) being test driven before i was given it ..hope they are going to throw in some mats or something to ease your disappointment ???

don't want to put a damper on things but i'd check the paintwork and grill as it could be a stone that has deflected up... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Have to agree with the others, why would they need to test drive a new car before you take delivery?

That seems a little odd personally.

they will have to do a PDI (pre delivery inspection).

this is done on ALL cars/ motorbikes to make sure they are fit and safe to drive/ ride. usually involves a drive of no less than 8 miles.. testing brakes etc etc,

i was doing a ducati 749r a few years back and the oil cooler blew, dumping oil over the back wheel at 70mph,,

you wouldn't want that happening to a customer on his/ her first rider/ drive... one wife.......livid

Yes they have to drive the car as part of the PDI. Used to work at an Audi garage and had to drive them for a minimum of 10 miles as part of the PDI. Will check paint work and grill. They have fitted the side steps I brought. Will know more when I get there in the morning. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Collected it today and have done about 150 miles, WOW very very pleased. Sat nav appears to be very good and up to date, gearbox very smooth as is engine. Was not sure what to expect for auto dipping lights but so far am very impressed, switch between high and low beam seamlessley not one flash. Have had a few issues with the key less unlocking but think we may now have the hang of it. Will try to get some pictures tomorrow if it is not dark when I get home from work.
