Pirelli tyres

I’ll need a couple of new tyres soon and plan to stick with Pirellis. The two I’m considering are the scorpion zero all season and the scorpion zero assimetrico. Any thoughts on which ones are the best to go for, the stats look good for both. They are for road use. Thanks.

Tyres are a huge personal choice .. and different tyres suit different purposes..
All Weather tyres are exactly what they say, they will give far better grip in cold and snowy conditions than the standard summer tyre. The multiple sipes (cuts in tread) are designed for better grip on snow and ice. However on the downside because the rubber compound is softer to be more pliable in cold weather it will wear faster…

Or you have the summer tyre with it’s harder compound which is likely to last longer, be more performance orientated and better in soft mud and grass..

It’s a compromise to what you are likely to do with your car.. I live on top of the North Downs and thus in winter we are liable to heavy snowfall. As such for my wife’s and daughter’s car I run all weather tyres to make it easier and safer for them.. For my RRS i run summer performance tyres and in the snow I get out my trusty D3 G4!

As an aside, one of your adverts is for Lepson tyres. This company is brilliant and the only company I trust to fit my tyres! They are perfect for fitting tyres to expensive alloys, but get you are a little way away from them!

Thanks, that’s a very helpful view. I drive a Maserati too and I’ve been a Lepson customer for many years for alloy refurbs and fitting new tyres as I know they can be trusted. Thanks again.

I use scorpion verde all season and very happy with those, as are others on the forum. Worth checking out.

Just had all four tyres changed(one had a nail, so reinflating last 3 days) had Scorpion Zero now have P Zero fitted.

Looking around Asdatyres were best price at £832 all in (code gave me a discount to that price) what I was really pleased about was the date on the tyres was 2014 so possibly fitted to car at LRJ.

I have now got 86,000 miles, is this a record for miles for a set of tyres, by the way the tyres were close to the markers but not fully worn. It would be great if the new set last this long!!

Another vote for scorpion verde all season. Had then on my D5, and fitted a set on my XC90. Wear rate is very good.

Is the P Zero a high enough load rating for a D4?

Pirelli are great for wear/longevity, but the sidewalls become weak over time and can seriously degrade handling. I had to dump them (for the second time Rolling Eyes ) after about 2 1/2 years as the ride had turned to jelly.

I've just fitted a set of Avon AX 7's which transformed the handling to where it should be. Too early to say any more that that really.

I can't say I've noticed any noise change for better or worse, but then I haven't done any motorway miles yet. The thread pattern is more snow/mud/wet grass biased, so its possible they might be slightly noisy. If rrhool sees this he may be able to provide more specific details, as he's also running them a few weeks longer than me.Thumbs Up
