Plastic sheet in front of radiator?
Hello!
Yesterday I noticed that there is a plastic sheet in front of the lower section of my radiator.
IF i remove the cover for the front tow eye the sheet can be slid out, it’s not fixated it just stands there.
Any ideas about this, is it an off-road or cold weather add on that should be removed for regular use?
I have a disco 4 from 2010, tdv6 HSE spec.

Sounds like a PO has put it there? Could be to keep mud out of the intercooler and radiators when driving through deep mud?

It’s a cold weather thing. It prevents the intercooler hose from building ice I think.. There is a TSB for it, I’ll see if I can still find it. The D4 diesels in Finland have the same. Some have a new grille with fixed plastic behind and others a removable, too. Seems to have been dealer dependent.

There are two parts: the lower section cover for intercooler and upper section cover for radiator. I was told by the dealer that the intercooler cover can be left there and doesn’t need to be removed whereas the radiator cover behind the grille is meant to be used during winter only.
In Finland there was a campaign where cars originally sold here got this new swap-able grille with built-in cover when imported car has to suffice with the piece of plastic sheet attached with zip ties behind the grille.

That explains it as my D4, being an Italian import, didn’t have either back in the day.

Great stuff, thanks for the quick replies ! I’ll make sure to check the upper grille if there’s a cover behind that too. Probably a good idea to take off the upper one when the winter tires comes off then.
