I've managed 550 miles and usually fill between 470 and 520 miles. No way could I manage 600, let alone 700+.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I never get that, as its really, really dull sitting at those speeds. Silly head normally goes on at some point during the 500 miles in that tank, and the MPG drops like a stone My D3 Build Thread

A real 40mpg or a displayed 40mpg??
Displayed MPG only and only ever on decent motorway journeys of 100+ miles with long yawn inducing speed restricted stretches. I suspect the OBC is optimistic but not by huge amount.

I think you need to do some brim-to-brim calculations.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Only owned mine for 2 weeks and so far commuting shows 24 mpg and long run 30 mpg, obviously need to be adjusted by 10 percent ish like most obc.

My obc shows around 11 l/100kms but the real figure is around 14 l/ 100 kms = 20mpg.
And I understand it is not possible to adjust the obc.
My TDV6 auto is tweaked with a new setting from Bell. Also have a larger intercooler.
Do not understand how people can get around 10l/100kms = 28 mpg.
I am not heavy on the throttle.
What is wrong?
Well after reading some of this thread I think I have problems, My display has never gone above 22mpg and has sat at 21.7mpg for the last few months and since the display over reads by around 2mpg that's 19.7mpg. On the last tank fill my trip said 324miles ouch not sure if it's because it's mainly short local runs to and school, shops ect. Here's hoping it's better on the motorway . Not sure what else I can do as I have EGRs blanked, run 2 stroke, check tyres every 2 weeks, new intercooler hoses and hawk eye 4 wheel alignment with hankook road tyres.
Short runs to/from work and I get about 18mpg - on a motorway run is does get mid/high 20's depending on the traffic etc.
Long term average on mine is 24 (110K miles) which includes off-roading and towing.Mark.

strangely enough my brim to brims and my fuel computer work out identical and have done so many times. So I am reasonably confident in the numbers it displays. My mileage had also seemed stuck at 21.8 for months when I was running my ATR's. Just changed to Scorpion winters and it seems to have improved by about 1mpg over about half a tank. In summer on ATR's I was around 25 ish. Thats mainly on short runs and a 12 mile run to work each day. If I go a longer run (30 miles) I'll get up to 27 and on a 60ish mile run I can just top 30 (driving conservatively)

Does cruise control play a part in this? Is it better to have it on or off? I do remember reading somewhere people saying they get worse MPG with it on!
