Reviving this thread.

Sold all vehicles. Bought an 2018 Hilux Invincible, and a Golf last year

. And a knackered SIII full of holes that I will slowly rebuild over a long period. Still have to have some form of landy.

Can't agree more, though one careful stupidly loyal owner from new helps. Embarassed sorry just noticed the date on the thread comment. Still worth saying Laughing

United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

If you only need a local run around any of the Japanese 4x4 stuff is good. I have had three shoguns, one patrol and a landcruiser. The Japanese stuff is heavier on fuel than my two Disco 3s and not nearly as comfortable.
To be honest I have owned over two hundred cars bikes and vans in my life and only an Audi A 8 Quattro was a spacious and comfortable on a long motorway trip. I would still own one today if it weren’t for my three dogs. The Discovery 3 is a great motorway cruising comfortable place to be. Takes some beating. Bigger rear than the Range Rover too so the dogs love it.
We also own a Volvo XC 70 which is a fabulous car- 180,000 miles and still climbing on a 60 plate- but the view isn’t as good as the Disco 3 and there is much less cabin space.
With all it’s faults- and we have had a few- the Disco 3 is a great car for long distance work in comfort. We even manage 31 /2 on a run at 70/75 on a remapped D3 which I think is good.
A D4 will replace whichever of the D3 or Volvo dies first.
