In simple layman’s terms the purpose of wheel balancing is to counter balance the tyre highspot however the picture depicts the weights balancing each other out other in a rather than correct fitting of the weight in the first place.
So on each wheel if required there should be no more than one strip of weights on the outer and inner parts of the wheel.
There are acceptable limits to how much weight should be applied and to further confuse matters it is acceptable to hide weights behind spokes (this is known as splitting) really only done on bling wheels
Enjoy

Could it be that the rim is not perfect round anymore? Then they are almost impossible to balance.Roel

That amount of weight reminds me of some of the larger BFGoodrich we have been fitting lately, so now if it's tooooooooo much we send them back under complaint, had some 285/75x16 BFG AT KO's the other week which needed over 500grms on one plain, guess where they went ?
General are great to balance like most other leading makes.
Andy.

So is this is a Tyre issue only [or bad wheel balancing] and not down to poorly manufactured wheels ???...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Some tyres are better for balance than others, the larger the tyre can sometimes make it a little differcult, depends on make etc.
Also some wheel rims can be poor to start with, then you mount a poor'ish tyre which make it worse, especially if it's an "all internal balance".
Those EMPI rims are normally found on air-cooled 'dubs 8)I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Bought some tyres for my D1 once from a company called Bronco up north somewhere, I know they where re-thread when I bought them, however they where that out of balance no one managed to stop the wheel wobble. - only used them off road

Ken,
have you got a reference (PPG - BASF etc or otherwise) for that "Dark Chrome" colour - would love to get a set done like that!
Is it a special Powder process - or just standard electrostatic? (I will get the lads at work to order some in for me and powder if it's a standard process)
Thanks!

C'mon, you don't expect Ken to pass over his trade secrets, surely?
If you want yours doing best bet is to send them to Ken.
He deserves that at least!
