Power Steering

What would cause my steering to be very stiff. I have checked the power steering reservoir and it's ok as are all the tyre pressures.

This sounds like the lower steering UJ.

£185 part and couple of hours. Did mine recently.

Search lumpy steering on here to find details. Wink

A friend of mine had similar symptoms on his D3 recently, along with a flat battery. Turned out to be the front end accessory drive belt slipping caused by the tensioner having failed. We caught it just in time, was very nearly at the point of catastrophic failure. Easy check before you start chucking parts at it.

I just had a RRS MOT'd. Advisory, slightly stiff steering (176k miles). The rack has become very stiff after driving just a few miles back to base. Time for a rebuild or replacement. I would like to know what has failed.
