Not from LR, but from Webasto. I am arranging an imminent time and date for my D3 to be fitted with a prototype T80 radio remote control system pre heater activation kit.
LR are not going to fit a system for the pre-heater to work as they do not have the interface from Webasto or the control to ensure the heater flaps are in the correct position. The system is a bit too complicated for me to explain at the moment (I don't know basically) but when installed will give full details.
What it will do is have the ability to set by remote control from upto 1000 metres away the system for upto 30 minutes. It can be reactivated again, but I have asked for the 30 mins max for battery life and fuel safety.
If this model works, I can have a T100HTM installed, which gives more control by remote system with varied times.

It will work, it is a proven system, they just want to set it up before marketing it. I simply have to get a day with the guys to do it now.
By the way, my pre-cool does not work either. Have spoken to LR today, they are looking into it. By the time I get an answer the car will be due for change anyway.

My pre-cool works - if you leave the radio on
I used it this afternoon. Be careful with it though, because it can flatten the battery if you don't return to the vehicle and switch it off.

Yes, because the system is not all there. If fitted with all components there is a battery monitor that will not let the unit run when the battery gets to a certain voltage, think it is about 12.2volts. This is to ensure that at least the engine can be started. It is not wise to use the system with the radio as it does not have these safety cut-outs and a flat or very low battery can soon occur, which can really upset the system, be careful.
I am on a fast learning curve now with the electronics. I have found a few important things out. Also LR's Notebook will not pick up all the errors, that is why the mechanics simply reset any thing they are not sure of.
Diagnos (diagnos.co.uk) have a new system out that will do it apparently and my mechanic is looking into the purchase of the latest software. We use their system now, it is simply the viable cost at the moment for me and my company, cos it ain't cheap.
