It's a few months off, but in 2008 our D3 turns 3, as we intend keeping this chariot for some years to come, and we'll pay for this I'm sure, I intend to take it to a stealer prior to the warranty expiring and thought it might be useful to others as well to have a specific check list which can be handed to the dealers for items that should be checked as far as we the owners are concerned and not just what the dealer does in a standard service.
Therefore, I'd like to ask everyone to quote the list below in their reply along with any additions they deem that should be added so the list keeps growing - maybe one of the mods will also make this thread a sticky to keep it at the top of the list
The list so far, last updated 10/08/08:
Standard 36 month service checks
Ball Joints
Differentials
FBH
EPB
Clutch (Earlier models had springs that were to weak causing cluth drag when cold - ours replaced at 30k miles)
Steering
Aircon
ARB Stirrups
ARB bushes
Seat Frames (complain that it creaks, also the manual ones can start to sink)
Coolant sensor
Wheel Bearings Post 50k miles
Wiring to fog/driving lights
Cruise Control fault log
Check for updated "Satnav data on the move" capability
Close inspection for uneven tyre wear
Tailgate struts for tightness / body damage if loose
Seat heating
Satisfactory cabin-wide warmth (there have been faulty sensors)
Ball Joints
Rear tailgate for leaks coming in from the top
Front wishbone arms
Lower Glove box catch
Battery (check for dead cells)
Airbag Clockspring/rotary coupler
Thanks,
DNLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

When I asked about extended warrenty, the dealer chap told me that as long as you set it all up before the 3 year milestone, they would be doing a pre-warrenty check up anyway... I guess so anything that could be done under the standard deal could be done in the shop.
I'm assuming that the dearler gets paid by LR to do warrenty work, but under the extended warrenty, that isn't a givern ..
Hi Lawrence a lot of money and not every thing is covered do a serch there are post about it.Home of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication [email protected] D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks

Maybe add
Wiring to fog/driving lights (increasing failures)
Log an occasional Cruise Control fault (even if it hasn't )
Check for updated "Satnav data on the move" capability
Close inspection for uneven tyre wear
Tailgate struts for tightness / body damage if loose (search for good posts)
Seat heating (mine has a cold band, mid-thigh)
Satisfactory cabin-wide warmth (there have been faulty sensors)
I've only had the first two, waiting to solve No 3
Good luck; we should all copy and keep the final list
Andy2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

With my pessimist's hat on...
Will Tata honour the warranty into the distant future?
What about a Group buy on extended Warranty?
Maybe fill 10s pockets with silver, then keep him at it "for ever" 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Is it possible to get an extentions to the Warranty for another 12/24 months beyond the 3 years. If so, how much and how do you go about doing it.
Thanks in advance
LJ
the answer is YES, you can walk into your local LR stealer with a vehicle up to 6 years old providing its got less than 60k miles and has a FSH. It will then cost you £150 to have a full 50 point check and providing any works are rectified, they will sell you the warranty.
Bought a LR Powertrain Option 3 Warranty for our TD5 commercial that was 4 years old (2003) and had covered 43k with fsh. cost us £776 for twelve months unlimited mileage/land rover assistance/mot warranty (ie if on the next mot works up to £750 can be claimed).
Only wish the stealer was aware themselves that although the LR booklet says that option 3 is for commercials/defenders ect, we could have had option 1 which would have covered everyting for an additional £400. This was pointed out by the LR warranty people who then sent a compliance officer down to re-train the whole of the dealership network!!

Thanks for this. I'm ruled out by the bit concerning less than 60K, as mine is already on 70K with a few months to go.
Oh well.
