Premium Radio Sound problem |
|
Just had a problem with the premium stereo system, cd had been playing ok for over 10 minutes and then just got a rather loud hiss from all 3 speakers on the drivers door (no music at all). Parked up, switched off, locked the car for ten minutes and still the same. Sorted it by briefly removing fuse 53. Anyone else had a problem like this? have done a search but could not find any problems reported for this unit. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I have had problems with sound intermittently dropping out on one or other of my front doord speakers. It's not a loose connection, because is drops out slowly rather than crackling on and off. Seems to be at its worse on MW radio. But that may just be more noticable because it's in mono. It's been going on for weeks. My dealer tried a software fix and failed (though it seems to have got less frequent). It's going back in on Thursday for another look.

my g/f told me this was happening to mine at the weekend, I have also had distortion and buzzing from the speakers intermittently its easier to hear if set on Aux input without anything connected in. 2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

buzzing on the aux input will be caused by the various data and switching networks on the vehicle, to prevent this, LR have fitted the aux socket with a method of grounding the input if a plug is not inserted. This is the reason why the plastic dummy plug is supplied with the DVD kit, although a bit of background noise can be heard on aux. it's probably at high gain levels, with an audio source connected the signal-to-noise ratio should be acceptable in most cases

its a weird one in that normally its silent. Then on a bad day when speakers are distorted etc. you can switch to Aux and head a loud buzz that also has a slight engine speed related buzz to it.
Its very loud with radio on normal volume of 17/18 - ave. volume for me for motorways. 2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

maybe worth checking the battery -ve terminal for corrosion - assuming you don't have the LR DVD player fitted....
just make sure you leave it a minimum of 2 mins before disconnecting the battery terminal after key out and doors shut

no buzzing on mine, just twice now I have had to remove fuse 53 to get the sound back from the drivers door speakers as they just start to hiss (rather loudly too). The D3 will be needing its 1st service at the end of September so I'll ask them to have a look and see if they can find the problem then. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

there have been issues with chaffing of the door harnes as it enters through the grommet-maybe worthwhile checking this as your fault is isolated to only one door

Steve, Just had a look and looks like your right, can not see which wires have been damaged (even with a small torch) but on removing the grommet from the door their appears to be pvc scrapings (white, green and black in colour). Also removing this cover caused my speaker problems again - reset by removing the fuse again. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
