Premium vs Non-Premium Leather
I was wondering what the actual difference was between standard leather and premium leather. I love everything about the interior of the D4/LR4, but one thing that stands out is the lack of perforated leather. The first car I owned with leather seats caused my back to sweat on hot days, and road trips of over 1 hour left me in need of a change of clothes. My latest vehicle has perforated leather, and those problems have disappeared. Anyone here have a problem with breathability of the leather seats on their D4? [/b]

I think our HSE has premium leather and my pal's XS has standard leather. Neither is perforated - which hasn't been a problem. Having said that - the weather has not exactly been "sweaty" since we bought these cars - more often than not the heated seats have been on.
The premium leather is quite noticeably softer, more suple and tactile than the standard.Disco 4 TDV6HSE

All is relative. Didn't think we were on the Lada forum.... The older I get, the better I was.

I didn't find the HSE loaner as comfortable as my XS with standard leather, but I think the door handle may be further back in the HSE to allow for bigger speakers, rather than it being a function of the leather itself. Either way, I'd actually rather have cloth for less cold in the mornings, less sweaty on a long run (but of course much harder to clean!)

looking at the swatches in the showroom, the premium is a thicker leather, more like a full grain.

Isn't it the other way around? I haven't handled a swatch but my understanding is that the premium leather has less visible grain to it and is a bit softer to the touch.
I wonder how they wear?
You migh assume that the standard would be the harder wearing but the accumulating dirt could be more visible in the grain.
As munch as we'd all like to belive that 'premium' is 'better', it's not a given that harder-wearing is the primary benefit...
