Pricing Advice Please
Hi all. Sadly the time has come to part with my D4 as we no longer need two cars. I am however having trouble working out how much to advertise it for, as there seems to be a very large range of listed prices on Autotrader for similar cars (from £7k all the way up to £14k).
It's a 10 plate 2009 model, HSE, 150K. Condition is generally good, with a few minor scratches and blemishes to the bodywork and interior. More or less full service history. Only faults are that where I've swapped the wheels to black ones, I now get an error message about the tyre pressures; the rear screens will also no longer load dvds. I have also added black door handles, side vents and front grille.
Any advice gratefully received.

Hi,
if you want a straight forward sale put your details into WBAC and see what they offer
then decide if your happy with the figure
sell privately (on here) for a bit more than the wbac offer
advertise it for loads more on fleabay and sit and wait to see if you get any offers

WBAC figure was £7k "if free from damage" (don't know how strictly they apply that definition).
I'd like (private) market value, but I can't work out what this is!

Try Cazoo as well as they are easier to deal with and dont look to haggle down . Private market value is whatever somebody is willing to give you . Your obviously wasnt impressed by WBAC offer but realistically not sure you will get much more. Dont get sucked into the trap of what vehicles are advertised for as the higher values wont reflect the true worth or anywhere near what a sensible buyer will give you. Generally WBAC pretty much have good idea of value as they are trading more.

WBAC prices are really strong currently, main dealers don't seem to be able get anywhere near them

Regarding WBAC and damage. The webpage will ask specific details about the damage, and will adjust likewise. For example "are there any scratches over 2.5CM in length?" My Kia had one that I measured as 2.4cm, so I didnt note it on my submission. When they did the inspection they must have measured that single scratch around 20 times. If it had measured at the 2.5 cm mark, they would have knocked £350 off of their £32K offer. You could barely see the scratch in passing.
So yeah, scuffs, scratches, anything cosmetic could drop the offer a bit. Be honest on the online evaluation and you'll be close.
And they REALLY care about service history.
Good luck!!!2012 SDV6 D4 HSE "Sweet D" —Gone
