Within two days they made the decision to supply us with a new car. I was very surprised on how quickly they came to the decision.

I am curious about why this happened. In Queensland they are not compelled by law to replace a car.

What was the fault that caused this action?

reject the vehicle if it were that new, couldn't be driven & the part in question is on back order
This is your right & the dealer has to act on the rejection by getting you a new car...

What you fail to take into account here is that the dealer/manufacturer also have the right to try and sort the issue out. The diagnosis appears to have taken some time, the original poster is clearly being patient and allowing the problem to be addressed. In most cases much more is gained by trying to be constructive.

they jumped to get things sorted for 24 hrs but all seems at standstill again, ( Hereford LR),

could it be that as everyone from hereford was/is or knows the first man on the balcony; that a "job" came up and that as they have all signed to official secrets act they can't tell you about it? Wink

we feel your pain... Sad look on the bright side, you're not adding miles to your car.... Thumbs Up

even better the courtasey freelander has no TAX displayed as it is sitting on the service managers desk!.
Shocked Shocked

so what happens when PC plod pulls you over and gives you a fixed penalty which is a fine AND points on your license, looks like you need to walk to dealer to get the TAX disc and while there ask "Hows it going".

giving them time to resolve the issues is admirable, but Dealer giving you a car that can get you in trouble with the law is inexcusable
Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

The only reason I can think of why a dealer would give you an untaxed old banger to drive round in is they don't expect to fix your car anytime soon. Pretty insulting really after you gave them the thick part of £50k.

Seems LR dealer 'techs' suffer from the same problem as PC world 'techs' namely being Censored clueless. Like asking a plumber to fix a combi boiler, they just start swopping stuff as they don't have any real clue. Wonder if its a genuine lack of training or the dealers pay peanuts and get monkeys ?

Note to self: add Hereford to the ever growing list of wack dealers. Perhaps it could be made a sticky in the dealer forum ?

just agreed to put a new computer in, but they are on back order and can not confirm when the car will be ready and were in the start of week 3 of no car

3 weeks of NO car and dont know when the part will be available, so are they saying LR are not currently building NEW off the line D4 as they are waiting parts. Shocked
I dont think so; and any guesses how many new cars have come off the production line during your 3 weeks waiting for parts??? Whistle Whistle

thats pure 100% Censored the dealer has told you, no surprise at all. No way LR will tolerate a line stop for weeks let alone the penalty clauses on the supplier.

To the OP get a letter to the DP asap as already has been said, tell them you want a D4 runaround to put miles on as well while they look at yours.
