Good work, that's a bargain for just over £100 per corner, new wheels and tyres plus you will get a bit back for your old wheels. Win/win!2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE 84,000 miles Buckingham Blue

DIY JOB 19. replace EPB shoes etc. £107.12
The EPB seizing and the need to pull the emergency cable caused the MOT to fail last June. Rather shamefully this left the car off the road for nine months whilst I found time to replace it all. Frankly I was dready having to crawl around under the car on the drive. I used the FL2 in the meantime which took the priority out of fixing it.
Anyway I tackled the job last week. Bought new EPB shoes, new springs, new discs and new pads from John Craddock. Did the offside first which was a relative doddle but I found the near side a pain in the backside. The pads were still so tightly packed against the disk that I could get the disc off.
I unboxed my new GAP IID tool and set the EPB into Mounting Mode, then pulled the fuse for the EPB. Easy thereafter - realise I should have done that from the start.
Put the fuse back in, relatched using the IID tool, then set about bedding them in using the outstanding Bible kindly written up by Bodsy. Worked a treat. Turns out I didn't need to take the actual EPB module apart as I suspect I didn't actually properly pull the emergency release in the first place. What a result!
MoT test positive on Friday, took it out for 100 mile trip today and she's purring away again. Well chuffed to be back in her and wished I had made the time to do the EPB many months ago.
Cleaned her today too. Well overdue!

So after a few recent near misses on the road, and watching a moron nearly mow down a pedestrian at a red light, i decided it was time to get a dashcam.
I've opted for the Nextbase 522GW for a few reasons; it is full HD at 60 frames per second, it has the ability to add rear facing camera and also it is held onto the bracket by a heavy magnet with very easy removal - meaning I can have a screen mount in both my D3 and a FL2 and merely hotswap it depending on which car I take out.
I've made a video of the install, just in case anyone finds it useful...

By way of an update on this car, sadly the MOT failed on emissions. I suspect the injectors are faulty as they've low readings on two of them.
In the meantime I am facelifting my Freelander 2 to use as my daily driver, whilst I save the cash to buy six new injectors and all other sensors etc, for the Disco.
Thought you might like to see my Freelander 2 project taking shape...

With too little time on my hands I have surrendered control of the injector issue and given it to a local Indy to replace three injectors. Price coming in at about £218 plus VAT per injector, plus labour. They believe this will solve the smoking issue, but have warned that the HPFP might need doing too.
Fingers crossed I'm back in her again in two weeks, with a fresh MOT in place.
These were the injector readings whilst idling... clearly something amiss:

Yippee!! I'm back in my D3 this morning. Six new injectors, new front disks and pads, new front arms, lots of other snazzy new bits. And a new MOT.
Only took a mere £2789 to sort that out. Eek.
I'll pop a full overview on my YouTube channel tomorrow, with a breakdown of costs etc.
In the meantime she's running beautifully, like new.2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...

So here's the bill, with breakdown. It's a lot of money no doubt, but seriously happy to get her back.
The guys at Arkley have sorted her, if just done a good few miles into London and out and she's running beautifully with not a whiff of smoke. Result.
Tom the engineer was very helpful this morning explaining everything that's been done.
Thumbs up from me, if you're near Reading (or not) these guys are worth checking out.

DIY Job 34: remove trim. £0.00
I've taken off these nasty tarnished Chrome wingmirror (and matching door handle) fixtures today. Just popped them off and cleared off the goo.
Much smarter, can't belive I've been driving around with them on for so long

Sadly I had to rely on the AA today to get me home, my gearbox was tough to get into Drive when leaving Cambridge and even when done so it would pop out again a few hundred metres down the road. Shifting into Sport mode seemed to hold it, for a few miles until I got 'Transmission Fault' on the dash.
I assumed that the gearbox/shifter linkage was the culprit. The friendly AA chap crawled under and coated it in WD40. A few cycles through the gear selector and sure enough it engaged and stayed in Drive long enough to get me home - 97 miles away.
Credit/bravery to the AA chap, he was happy crawling under the car in off-road height, spraying it whilst I cycled R-N-D multiple times. Engine on. I wouldn't have done that and I checked with him several times that he was sure he wanted to. He obviously trusted me and the car not to do anything stupid.2022 BMW i4 M50. You don't realise how stiff it's getting until you fix it and it becomes silky smooth and light to move again!Stu
