Puncture repair kits

Evening all, having found a screw in a tyre today and having to book it in to be fixed tomorrow I’m looking again at the puncture repair kits that are about.
Has anyone used / carry one? Are they any good? Are they just temporary fixes to get you home or can you leave it in?
Arb do a good example.

I've used a similar kit in an agricultural setting and it worked very well - having repaired the tyre it was as good as new (or at least as good as it was pre-puncture), so I'd class it as a permanent fix. I've also had many tyres repaired at my local independent tyre place (£30 is worth it to me for peace of mind), and they use essentially the same kit but of course warranty the repair, and generally throw in a wheel balance check at the same time.

Overall I'd be quite happy to drive around on a repaired wheel, although as with everything like this it might take a few tries to get the technique right the first time.

I have been using these kits for about 6+ years and repaired tyres on various cars including the D3.
The kit has two thickness of repair threads depending on size of nail/screw etc.
Never had one fail and I regard these as a permanent repair.
On occasion I have done the repair without even taking the wheel off.

I only got to know about these after I went to a tyre centre for a puncture repair and this basically what they used.

Thanks for the info and thoughts guys.
Looks like they’re well worth having in the car going forward Smile

The main difference between that and the repair at the tyre shop it they can use a "mushroom" insert where the rubber plug has a flat head.

These can only be fitted from inside the tyre but that means the head can also be glued against the inside of the carcase.

Things have moved on since the sticky string I use this mushroom kit but use proper tyre glue to help the mushroom get lubricated as it moves threw the tool and to seal in the tyre.
