Purchasing my first Discovery
Hi everyone.
I'm fairly new here but have been on Freel2 and Defender2 for a while.
Currently looking around to purchase a D4. Have been looking through the threads on what to look out for which is very useful.
My requirements are:
No more that 5 years old
Less than 50k on the clock
SE Tech or HSE Spec (ideally HSE as I want the FBH for toasty starts in cold weather!)
Green. Must be green!!!
Light coloured interior.
From a main stealer for warranty
Ideally 19" wheels but I think HSE only comes with 20"?
This is going to be a long term keeper for weekends & holidays. Would also like to get a second set of wheels for winter use and was wondering what the minimum rim size is? Do D3 wheels fit a D4?
Anyhow have to sell the Defender first and then get the Freelander ready for a PX.
Any thoughts comments welcome.
Cheers,
Jason

Hi and welcome.
D3 wheels fit D4 if they’re 19”. If you need 18” I think the only ones that fit are compomotive PD1881s.

welcome
All diesel D4's (UK spec) come with FBH as standard - doesnt have to be HSE to get that.
All D4's with the 3Ltr engine have 19" alloys as standard - some have 20's either as options or standard.
Any D3 wheel that's 19" will fit a D4 (the D3 17's and 18's wont fit a 3Ltr D4)

Thanks for the welcome and wheel info kajtzu.
Also thanks al cope for welcome, wheel and FBH info. That's interesting!!! Didn't realise that all had FBH fitted. I guess you can change the FBH feature to HSE spec by adding the remote and updating CCF with an IID tool or such like?
Thanks for warning on I know them of old. Bought my first Freelander from there and they offered me a laughable PX on it when I went back for my next one!
They also have a SE Tech which is nice but I'm also looking at a HSE which is unfortunately in Ascot. As it's Guy Salmon was thinking of asking them if they'd bring it up to their dealership in Stratford. I bought my current Freelander 2 from GS in Wakefieid and they were quite good to deal with.

no problem
Yes you can add the timed climate feature via IID and/or add a remote.
Had my last D4 from GS Stockport, they were OK, but latest SE Tech was from Colliers (now Lancaster) Erdington.

I could be wrong but I think all D4’s have fbh but I think the HSE get park heating which I don’t think is available on the SE Tech
Like I said I could be wrong as I have only had my 2015 SE Tech 4 weeks

The big center console screen in color as opposed to a small one that can be found on (at least) S and commercials.
Have a set of car shades for the Freelander and they are great for cutting out the sun on the dogs and for obscuring the view inside the vehicle. General only use them for about 4 weeks of the year because that's generally the length of a UK summer!
For the rest of the year, I prefer the clear glass look!

Everyone’s taste is different, of course, but without darkened windows the vehicle will resemble a greenhouse or aquarium ...

Yes everyone's taste is different
Some folk like driving around in panel vans
Seriously though, I'm not dead against privacy glass. In fact a friend of mine has said that he was never keen on it but after having it on one car, he'd never be without it now.
I think some colours suit privacy glass better. Not sure about green
Maybe I'll change my mind once I've test driven one.
