Sorry to raise this from the dead, but is the general consensus that this gadget works fine without an aerial upgrade in areas of decent reception, ie, surrey/berks?
I found it was without the extra aerial
I'll second that. Its spot on with the exterior aerial though, it does make a lot of difference.Club Exped trailer

BCC - if I recall your not to far from Reading like me. I previously had an early generation DAB Pioneer unit, mentioned further up the thread, and with aerial on rear parcel shelf (tastefully mounted!) had no problems, I suspect with the latter chipsets in the Pure Highway you should be good for 95% of the time in the area would be my guess.
Not saying it won't be a better solution with the external aerial, just that before you factor that in as a cost, you should give it a try.
If the DAB radio's work in that big comet next to the stadium which is a metal box full of telly's then should be ok on the open road!
Still thinking about it myself, like the idea of planet rock on the move as I really missed it when ditched my old Pioneer setup. Cheapest seems to be Dixons at £55! or Amazon for £60.
The center console and the trim around the radio/airvents are easy to remove by the way if your looking for a near installation, had mine out at the weekend to try and sort out my power sockets that I still don't have for my split charge battery![/quote]

Anyone who bought the mag mount aerial might find this usefull
I routed the cable down the passenger side just under the roof lining, down the A pillar where the original cable attached to the mag mount aerial runs out but is an ideal place to use the above 2.5mm male to female extension. From here the cable is routed behing the bottom glove box, you will have to give the H section trim a tug on the left hand side and you will be able to drop the lead down to the passenger side cig lighter.Club Exped trailer

Managed to find 5 mins to sling it in just now, sitting outside the tin hut all is good.
Have bluetacked the aerial in position and will see what it's like on the way home before a more permanent location is sorted.
Might enlist some help from one of the more technical adept chaps tomorrow night before I break something Welcome "Lola"

Ok...time to extend the aerial cable...never done wiring/soldering so giant lap forward for the Carp Chaser!!
So a technical question to one of you clever chaps will be required.
Have a length of stereo cable (grey) and two 2.5mm plugs from Maplins, one male, one female.
Now...pulling the plastic coating from the grey cable with my teeth I have 3 wires.
Which one goes to which on the terminal, or as it's only for the aerial not a pair of speakers, does it matter?
Looking at the aerial cable, I would have presumed it was just a single core.
If I don't blow anything up it'll be a miricle. Wiggs, don't laugh Welcome "Lola"
Where are you mounting the aerial bigcarp? Mine's on the nearside upper windscreen, and is fine, without needing to be extended. You can route the cable inside the a-pillar trim, behind the dash, and out to the DAB receiver without extending, to most positions.Previously:

Before I go and blow all the fuses in my car, anyone tried connecting one of these direct to the AUX port instead of playing via FM? (which is a bit rubbish!!)
Will I hurt anything if I try?
Out via the headphone socket, into the AUX port in the centre console.
Will I confuse things if I have my i-pod (the properland rover integrated system) on at the same time?Welcome "Lola"

SHMBO bought me one for my birthday (the relentless hints worked ) The internal aerial works most of the time but I also got the mag mount (for longer journeys) - Mag mount really enhances the signal strength. I'll be getting the 2.5mm extension cable for the mag mount though as the cable is not quite long enough to route it where I'd like (I also have it coming out of the tailgate). Overall though really impressed

Pure Highway Installation
I installed the Pure Highway DAB radio on the central lighting consol.
The aerial is hidden in the A pillar inside cover (stuck on the inside of the cover), +5V is taken from the CJB fuse 18 through DC/DC regulator IC (7805) and the output is connected to AUX input of the original radio. The Pure can be upgraded to DAB+ standard free of charge by the manufacturer and it works as in Hungary the DAB+ standard is used.LR D3 S Black, Auto TDV6
