Speaking to the LRE lads at Rockingham, they said they have had problems with these, in that when they cars are used off road they do not get hot enough to regenerate themselves and they have had to send their RRS's back to have new ones fitted Confused

They need to be run very hot occasionally to burn up the soot. Or they can get clogged.

Thanks for your replys gents

All new diesels, i beleive now have a DPF
Mine is a June 2010 HSE build, one of the last with no DPF.
My Last vehicle a Navara auto pickup had a DPF, nothing but trouble, had a tip from a man in Sweden, who also had a Navara, told me take DPF off drill a hole through the middle which i did, replaced DPF no more trouble.
Cheers

I was worried about the DPF in both the XF and D4 as my journeys have become shorter and more stop start driving (M1 rush hour) but not had a peep out of the D4 DPF in 2,700 miles or so. The 2.7TDV6 Jaguar XF only gave one warning message which was eventually cleared by a steady run along the M18. I think the trick is to use the cruise control periodically which allows the ECU to control the forced DPF regeneration process. This is far more efficient, but not necessarily more fun, than booting it down the M1 at 85mph (which is what I tried on the XF until I resorted to RTFM).

The warning rise in severity from info to oops. The first level "DPF full" warning is to prompt the driver to RTFM and take it for a steady tootle. The second level is "seek service" so that the dealer can force the regeneration before you B Censored r the DPF completely, and the final warning is "now it's so full of soot you need to dig deep but don't say I didn't warn you !"

My 09 car which was in the very first 500 cars that were fitted with a DPF whether you liked it or not (homologation?) was completely trouble free (as far as the DPF was concerned anyway!!! Rolling with laughter )
