That's why we use it
I remember the mad dash to Portsmouth when we were kids and it probably scarred me.
When we skied at Feb half term, we got an extra day's skiing in, arrived back at 9 (ish ) I was at work in Hull for 9.30 and the kids at school out in the sticks in East Yorks for 10am. On the way out, I can work until mid-afternoon and be on the ferry for tea time. Either way you end up spending a day travelling - I'd rather just do it abroad!

Avoid Paris... .. I once almost got a fit when we suddenly entered a tunnel with max height 2.0m doing
100kmh, NO advance warning... So if you've got a camper.. .. you run into the ceiling..
Personally I would try to avoid Paris if you can. I have towed and driven solo around the Periferique (and other routes a number of times, but it’s ALWAYS very busy, and the driving is utter madness at times. Many of the motorway junctions in the area are a fight too, so why endure the extra stress?
Done the Periferique with the van behind, sort of grip the wheel and pray, never again. But my options of getting round Paris was limited.
Not when you take into account getting from the Hull area (OP) to Plymouth.
The Hull - Zeebrugge crossing is great, we use it most times. It’s so relaxing - sets off 18:00 ish and gets in 09:00 ish (everything is ish) and for us the benefit is avoiding the madness of the south coast of the UK on the way back after several weeks of easy driving abroad - apart from Paris!

They just make the best of everything they have.
