United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial Auto Unknown ColourDiscovery 4

Yes - sorry - I meant DEF!

Mine is August 2016 - so I'm really pleased! - just sounds like just more hassle to me!

Interesting that you guys provided me with the answer within 5 mins! - I asked my local main dealer today what top up oil I should use in a commercial with no DEF and they looked at me like I was mad and said I must have one and maybe I was imagining it that there was no extra filler cap under the fuel flap. I left!

Thanks for your help!

Dave

In my experience the consumption varies widely.

first yr 10k done no messages up or re fill needed before service
2nd yr 8k done when message flagged up 1800 miles to go before running out.
I bunged in a couple of litres as expecting to do around that mileage in a couple of weeks then re filled at service.

I presumed the colder weather we had had in Feb March had effected it.

When reading up about it if ad blue runs out engine will not be able to start and also the correct BS code has to be used(which seems to be the only one available that I have seen on sale) as it has sensors in tank to check the right mixture has been input, otherwise it will shut down engine systems.

Hi Lespes
Given your experience And mileage, I’m wondering if it was actually filled up at the first service? Perhaps they put none in or just a bit. Did you check the range of DEF after the first service?
Cheers
 Gary

I did and it read full, have to check everything at main dealers round here, though think the slightly better one has cottoned on to the fact I check everything they say they have done, has cost them to much money in the past!

I've heard quite a few people refer to AdBlue as being 'hassle', but it's no more of a hassle than topping up the screen wash occasionally. AdBlue is readily available, and you get plenty of warning that it needs a top-up.
