Quick bit of windscreen advice needed please. |
|
My D3 goes back in again on Wednesday as since I had the screen replaced a couple of weeks ago (due to faulty heating elements) we get a drip in the near side footwell after heavy overnight rain or washing.
My question is will it be / can it be re sealed or is it another new screen?
Also both the screen pillar covers are loose at the bottom
Cheers Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Yes it can be resealed, or rather refitted, they should remove it and refit it correctly, I had this done to mine when the replacement leaked. They (Autoglass) did get in a spare screen though just in case it broke when they removed it
The clips will need replacing on the A-pillar covers, this should be done every time they're removed but if you're careful you can remove them without breaking the clips, I billed Autoglass for mine The End

Cheers Si
It was all done through a dealer but I suppose they used someone like Autoglass. They want it for 2 days so it should cover all potential problems. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Happened to me too. Leaks from the top somewhere and flooded the right hand A pillar when the D3 was moved off the drive
Had a new screen fitted as this was also faulty - smears in the laminate the heating elements are in.
All good now though.

Fills me full of confidence for my impending screen renewal
By the way, I think the D3 screen is brittle compared to my previous cars. What do you reckon? it seems to chip easily.

make sure they are recommended by the dealer, have done D3's before, are careful to avoid air bubbles in the sealant, replace the A pillar clips.

Wouldn't say they're prone to damage Gareth, on the way home from picking up the current D3 a wagon chucked a piece of MOT type 1 at us, hit the screen sufficiently hard to get the kids diving for cover and Mrs. 10 to do a little wee..... checked the screen the next day and not a mark... 8)
which was nice

I got hit by what looked like a wheel nut, although i can't identify the make or thread type cos' I was going at 80mph at the time. Suffice to say that it looks like I've been shot by a sniper!
Any screen would have cracked with that, but a few months ago I was stationary in a traffic jam, when a passing car flicked up stone which landed on my screen and chipped it.
Anyway, new screen needed as soon as time allows.

New screen tomorrow for me so long as it doesn't rain......
Piece of sub-base kicked up on the M25 last week created a small "pellet shaped hole", soon developed into a large crack in top centre of screen.
