Quick question from a new owner |
|
Firstly I would like to say hello to everyone. I am a new member and also a new disco 3 owner having collected my new motor from Yeovil Landrover on Saturday.
My question is to do with the parking brake. Please excuse me if this has been asked before but couldnt seem to find anything about it by searching.
So here goes: When I put on the electronic park brake the red warning icon on the dash comes on as it should, this is the (P) Icon
However when I switch of the ignition, remove the key and lock the car the red (P) light is still on. I had a read of the handbook that says it will stay on for a minimum of 10 seconds after the key has been removed, but my light stays illuminated for about 2 mins before it goes out.
Is this normal or do I have a problem that needs sorting?
I read in the handbook that if it flashes there may be a problem and also a brake warning light is a problem as well but this does not flash, it just stays on for about 2 mins before it goes out.
Look forward to hearing from you and thankyou in advance for any replies.
Jason

Red (P) light is perfectly normal. It'll remain lit for two mins, once it's extinguished it means that the cars electronic system has gone into hibernation .
Enjoy your motor .

Thats great, thankyou so much, I have to say I got it Saturday and never noticed until I parked it in a car park last night. Then I was worrying cos I thought, just my luck had it for less than 2 days and something wrong already
It is a great motor though, I love everything about it and certainly a big step up from my 2004 Freelander.
Need to also say thanks to the chaps at Yeovil landrover. Got a very good deal on the motor and the extra's and the service was first class from start to finish A1

Thankyou all for the warm welcome. Looks like a fine forum to me. I'm sure I will have plenty of questions and of course will give any answers I can as well.

I had looked at a few in different places but I was very glad I took the trip from Swindon. They are very easy to deal with.
Shame about my local Swindon mob. Service is something to be desired and they are quite expensive as well.
I would rather drive 2 hours down the road to Yeovil than deal with the local one

Welcome!
I drove to Yeovil from Manchester for a service - that says something...
Might say a lot about me (but it doesn't, 'cos Yeovil were ) as does my use of the (P) light. I tend to peer in to check that I DID put the EPB on!
Andy 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
