255/55R19s on 19" FFRR rims. They fit the D3 perfectly (8 x 19" wheels) as they are 2006 rims, earlier ones don't fit (i've been reliably informed!)

Got them from Nene 4x4, as these are the bottom of the RR food chain (wheels wise) so easily available with RR types upgrading wheels. They were not too expensive with new rubber, £216 incl wheel each for 5, tyres on blackcircles.com alone were £225ish (from memory).

This is why tyres like Michelin Energy are able to quote improved fuel economy as a result of reduced rolling resistance, which in turn produces less noise.

I find this rather worrying as there must be some level of reduced traction from reduced rolling resistance. Less noise perhaps..... until you slide off the road into a tree Twisted Evil

Time for a PHD to come in here I think - DSL, whats the physics on this.... Laughing

If you are having difficulty sleeping, print off and read the whole report. It goes into grip and traction IIRC...

My theory of the cosmos stands up to this. As they say in Yorkshire, "You don't get nought for nought!" Thumbs Up

Beside, I'm a geochemist (of sorts), what would I know about physics, or chemistry for that matter! OK, I'm just another rock hitting, mud slapping geologist that pretends he knows what he's doing! Thumbs Up
