Radio fault

It's happened again, radio is on screen shows station display but no sound ,it seems to be an intermittent fault. Does disconnecting the battery to reboot the system work or will it cause more problems. I've had the amplifier checked so that's not the problem.
Any ideas and thanks for any information..

Try an hard reset - https://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Hard_Reset

won't do any harm.

When I had the same problems as you, it was the amp that was faulty.
How was your amp checked out of interest?

Could be a Bluetooth module fault if you have that fitted.

Or even (rarely) the Top display.
Both of which can be bypassed with an optical fibre loop off eBay to see if it removes the problem.

Thanks I will try the hard reset. I don't really know how the amplifier was checked, a friends son has some knowledge of these things, he used a meter on various connections as there was power going in to the amplifier and power comming out that seems ok to me.
Will try the reset anyway.

What is the optical fibre loop. How do you use it and what does it do.
This is something I've never heard of, not sure if it would sort the problem..

Your head unit communicates with the amp and other units via the fibre optics there are no speaker outputs on the back of the head unit.
The fibre optics is a loop circuit that join the head unit amp, sat nav and bluetooth units together, if you disconnect one unit or one is faulty they all stop working.
The fibre optics cables are thick and orange there are two going to each unit input and output.
If you disconnect a plug you should be able to see a red light flashing on one of the cables and one side flashing inside the socket it came from.
