Radios

Due to the fact that my Kenwood's would talk to the Motorola’s on the Salisbury weekend. Embarassed I called the place I got them from and he said it is a lot easier to adjust the Motorola’s to talk to the Kenwood’s, Simply by going into the sub channels and selecting the corresponding frequency. However as I don’t have a Motorola to play with can anyone advise as to how easy it is to change the frequency settings, or do I go back and have words. Here is the list of "Stuff" Shocked

Channel   Table   Frequency   Tone   QT/DQT
Number   Number   (MHz)      Number   Settings(Hz)
 1         1      446.00625   10       94.8
 2         8      446.09375   08       88.5
 3         3      446.03125   13      103.5
 4         6      446.06875   05       79.7
 5         4      446.04375   17      118.8
 6         2      446.01875   18      123.0
 7         7      446.08125   19      127.3
 8         5      446.05625   07       85.4
 9         1      446.00625   14      107.2
10         8      446.09375   15      110.9
11         3      446.03125   16      114.8
12         6      446.06875   06       82.5
13         4      446.04375   27      D132N
14         2      446.01875   28      D155N
15         5      446.05625   29      D134N

Table fixed.

Sounds like it'd just be a lot easier to get a set of 'normal' PMRs to me Confused

If anybody wants two-way radios of any kind, feel free to give me a shout. I even have sets which can be dropped in the mud and washed afterwards whilst they are still switched on Exclamation

I will certainly look after you, but if you come looking for 50% discount for a group-buy, I won`t be so polite Wink

Have I been led up the garden path with reference to buying the Kenwoods.

How easy is is to alter the kenwoods to suit everyone else.

The way I see it the Kenwoods are a better and more expensive radio but as everyone else has normal PMRs (mainly the Motorola ones) we could have issues in the future. We may find a common channel but if we have to move to a different one in the future we could have problems again.
Unless of course we can get a bunch of the Kenwoods at a good price Wink

No Shocked

I will alter my far superior expensive radios to suit your toy ones, or take them back and swap them for the Moto’s to save the hassle.

I've said it before Rolling Eyes but I think the Motorola XTN446's are better quality than the standard consumer models and have the benefit that they are directly compatible with all fully PMR446 radio's
The problem is that as we are not a club, there is no central resources available. Several people bought radios for the Salisbury weekend which are PMR446 compliant, they can use these outside of Disco3 events without any problems
