I suspect the colour is due to resale value. Plus of course black is the coolest

I have nothing against the Red Arrows, but does anyone else wonder why our cash-strapped armed forces can afford three brand new and very expensive D4s for a show team?D4 HSE, Active Rear Diff, surround cameras, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, TPMS, remote park heating, centre console cooler box

Could be wrong but I reckon there will some form of sponsorship involved for precisely that reason.Tony

The amount of money the Reds recieve in merchandise, donations and sponsorship far outweighs the cost of a few landrovers.
Besides, I;d rather my money go to that, than be spent on some useless government scheme to send criminals to DisneyLand or something.

When I was a kid, they were known as the Black Arrows so belately, the colour is appropriate.

I expect that true however i) I'd be extremely surprised if it covered a fraction of running costs ii) there's always the opportunity cost
It's just depressing how much better public money, sorry our taxes, could be spent in this country

Thanks Duckworth for sharing your pics. I'm a big fan, and had the privilege of staying at RAF Scampton when they were based there many years ago.
I've no idea who paid for them but I can't see any harm in spending UK taxpayers money with UK businesses to buy UK manufactured products to promote UK plc and our Armed Forces. They help bring business to the UK, something we desperately need right now.
For those who aren't up to speed the Red Arrows they are a 9 ship formation.Tony
