Could also be an altitude issue with you Roel LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I don't think that the fact that I live 4m below sealevel is the answer as I have the same problems in Austria were I am working now. I found that Germany must have the worst mpg eaters as it is even lower there.Roel

Update!
2 weeks now since I fitted the RAI and mpg up to 20.1
So Discowex kindly offered to swap the top of the unit with me for a period to see if any improvement....mini experiment so to speak. He'd fit mine and see if reduction of mpg in his motor etc
we swapped the tops and I reset before heading home......now reading 24/25mpg consistently for yesterday and today. see how it goes for the rest of the week end I'll report back.
One big difference is the noise now of the unit with the slots, maybe thats why they changed the design on the new ones?A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Hmmm! Not noticed the noise with my (slotted) RAI. Then again, it has been fitted since new (and I normally drive with the windows closed to keep the heat out). The Bearded Dragon

Stephen , posting this on the fly 150 klm journey returning 25 mpg.You know my style of driving , N11 into Dublin , M50 and some short trips , engine ticking over etc , .Normally returns 25-27 in these conditions.Rack w/lights , Nudge , winch , MTR's etc etc all on.I expect without all this it would be approx 28-29.

1. Mine attached by LR 3/2008 has holes....
2. to compare Liter/100km to mpg => please confirm you are talking about gallon (US) approx. 3,7 liter since there is also a gallon (imperial/british) in my conversion tool which is 4.5 liter....
in regard to gallon(US) I get 32 mpg including german motorways. This is without speed limit and MT tyres and RAI on the car.

Since Glynne stole my fronrunner rack off me i thought my mpg would rise significantly from 21.4mpg, with mtrs and RAI, winch etc..however after after 500 miles she is returning.....
22.6 mind you im now enjoying my torque tune again and hooning along at 90 "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

Sorry for digging up an old thread. All you guys with slots in your raised air intakes have you also got the grill bit at the back as well? And tanters did you cut slots in yours in the end then?
