RAM laptop mount any good for D3? |
|
Just looking at something like these (http://www.gpscity.com/laptop-SUV-mount/land-rover+lr3+2007) for mounting a DELL Mini 10 and wondering if anyones got one and what they think of it...
Does it intrude on passenger space much and does it clutter the front of your dash much? Easy to install? Any comments appreciated thanks... ok for rough roads?
Also still considering putting it away somewhere and having a touchscreen instead on the dash instead...

Hi djambalawa,
I don't have one, but RAM mounts have a good reputation.
Before ordering one, be sure to check that it will accommodate your computer. I have a 10" Asus and it is 223mm wide which, if I read the cat correctly, is too small for the mounts.
Best Wishes,

Looks like it takes some of the passenger space but check the pho on here:

You didn't push too hard when taking a poo this morning did you Ken? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've got a RAM mount. It's excellent. The parts you need amount to about £80-£100, plus an Uncle Ray Ball mount., which fits to the seat rail on the D3 and provides the RAM mounts with something to clamp onto.
Here's a good thread on the subject

I see the Mini 10v is £199 with Ubunto and 8gb SSD or £249 with XP sp3 and 160gb HDD. Strikes me as a bit of a steal. Both use the N270 1.6Ghz processor
Anyone know if you can swap out the memory? I know with some netbooks it's soldered in to stop people increasing the ram themselves. 2Gb of ram with that chipset will make a noticable difference. Google is great. Mini 10 can't be upgraded. Mini 10v can be upgraded. Marvellous.
Now..... if I wait another month there's going to be a Mini 10 with 2gb and a TV tuner available from Dell. THAT in the glovebox linked to the nav screen would be a worthwhile upgrade. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've got a un-needed RAM mount and RLD ball available if anyone's after them, £120 for both sound reasonable? The End
