Range of Quotes........ Leeds Area....beyond belief!
So, having recently acquired our MY10 D4, I've been thinking about getting the Sat Nav updated, as there are a number of outdated maps etc on regular routes.......so.....
Last night, I email shot 6 dealerships in the Leeds and Surrounding area.......4 of which have come straight back to me this morning with quotes for the update, so in that regard, they are very good 8), but what has amazed me is the spread in the quotes, I would expect there to be some difference, but so far (including VAT) I've had prices ranging from £142 to a whopping.................wait for it................£499
I'll await the other two responses and once received post the dealers and their respective prices, but I honestly can't believe the range I've received.
Would be interesting to hear Pete @ LR's thoughts on why a dealership can differ so vastly, on what is a fairly standard and dare I say simple job.
Whilst agreeing with Graham, it also reads like a "we don't want the job, but if you insist..." price.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

What may sound a simple job .. Is not always the case .
Dealers don't do enough of them , so they don't have the knowledge .
There probably covering there arses for a good few hours incase it all goes wrong ( plus they have to buy the map code from navteq )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
Don't agree with that, updating ,maps is a standard thing should be a standard price.____

Not at all .. The map update is in the region of £150 .. Then you'v got the dealers time to upload it ... If it loads first time !
How many people do you know who have had a map update on a D4 ?G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Have to agree with A1GSS, I think it's a standard job should equal a standard price.
If it takes them two/three attempts then that should be factored into a dealer network wide standard price.
I've had two free map updates on my BMW 5 series when it's been in for a service without even tequesting them. I appreciate the LR buy them from Navteq, but that's partly their own fault for choosing them.

Even when I bought my D4 the sat nav was well out of date, didn't even have a dotted line to show they were building a minor road like the M74 extension.
I tend to stick with Navfree on my I phone, at least that is updated on a very regular basis.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I wouldn't bother updating the LR SatNav - save your money, even when it's updated the LR SatNav is inferior to almost all the alternatives.
I updated my D3 and was very disappointed with the result, and continued to rely on my 10+ year old TomTom; when that bit the dust I bought a Garmin - both are infinitely better than the LR SatNav IMHO.
