Raspberry Pi install
Hi
Got the Pi fitted yesterday. Video on the screen and audio working though Aux.
It fits in the glove box no problem. I am using a wireless mini keyboard so it works with the door shut.
It boots straight to Kodi media centre in about 5 seconds. Music via memory key or hard drive. It also has a wireless dongle I use this to connect to 4G on my phone and stream tv, music etc.

How do you get the video up? Using the diagnostics screen or some other way of interfacing?Bodsys Brake Bible

That's cool, I have been thinking about something like that but because of the screen interface being fiddly didn't bother so I also would like to know how you connected to the screen too

I am using a GVIF from Hids. Its connection to channel 3.
I have front, back and reverse cams connected to the other channels.

You can use the 3.5mm 4 pole plug on the PI for video and audio out instead of the HDMI.
I got the 3.5mm to phono cable from Maplins for 0.90p

nice.
Does that plug into the existing screen somehow, or is it a different screen mounted in there?
[edit] I see it's a different screen, from the other postings! [/edit]
If different, I assume you could plug gaps module into the Pi and get a decent satnav system too?!

Yes, see that, makes sense and is the usual way.
I'd really like to be able to find an gvif type module that is much more basic and cheaper to act as a simple interface, but nothing else yet around. Only really needs reverse cam and one AV input. Will keep looking. Bodsys Brake Bible
