I was hauled out of a mud-filled valley by a 5-tonne tractor/crane at one of the comps, using the front recovery point. The idiots virtually lifted the front straight up (on a snatch strap ) and then forward at a great rate of knots! An 'off-the-shelf' recovery point would have sheared off. The LR one bent very slightly, but that was about it. It might not look strong, but it is.

I added these a couple of years ago to get a rated thickness of metal, they go through the bull bar mounting plates and the chassis cross bar, rated 10,000 pound each when mounted to spec. They came with a chart to calculate the rating based on what thickness of metal they were mounted through.
