RDS-TMC ,NO icon on navigation menu.

I dont have a rds-tmc icon on my navigation menu. I have only just bought this car so its all new to me, Do all the units have this function or does it depend on the model like the 4 x 4 navigation, or does it appear when a route is planned.

Only standard on Premium Navigation which is only standard on the HSE so unless yours was upgraded when it was built you won't have TMC. There's a button for it on the Nav home page if it's fitted

If you've got TMC, off-road nav and 4x4 info it's Premium Nav, otherwise it's Standard Nav stussy

I am i right in saying that this can only be changed by a hardware upgrade and not a software upgrade.

Yep, though some of it is probably just by software but LR aren't letting on. They could probably make a few quid by offering upgrades as some sort of dealer fit kit as there's a fair few who have asked about it
