My rear brake lights have stopped working. The high level middle one is OK but the other two don't work. Any ideas before I take it to the dealers?Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

money is on both bulbs.
last twice that mines has blown one side, the other side's gone within a day or two. Its almost like some sort of over voltage once ones gone.

You have others?
Seriously, I have had two brake lights go very close to each other on 2 different cars of different make (NOT the D3 ) - does seem weird... I understand Audi pulse a low voltage through the filaments to keep 'em warm, so the thermal shock of switching on is diminished. Similarly household incandescents on a dimmer last longer than those on an ordinary switch...
A2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Hmmmmmm ......a tricky one .......let's assess the evidence
Light's not working ...light's not working ...lights not working
Nope ...can't think of anything that might cause that

I only buy bulbs from L/R in two's. Having got through about 6-7 from the local motor factors I learnt my lesson. L/R ones do last longer; LED's much longer still....Richard

Bulbs. Mine blew after about 18 months. Then the next set within about 6 months. Another one has just gone. I called LRA out after the 2nd set went so quickly and was told "these things happen". It's a pain, as the torx heads on my rear lamp guards are pretty shot and are a $od to get off.No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

Cant be arsed to fiddle about with replacing them so I have booked it in to Statstones As I have done 29k I'm going to get them to do the 30k service and 4 wheel alignment as the front tyres were wearing on the inside.
Will report back on their findings tomorrow. Also getting a loaner so will be interesting to see what I get.Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

Replaced with ordinary X-head screws & have now got time to replace a bulb down to under 3 minutes. Richard
