Rear Brake Pads and Discs Replacement

I have a new set of genuine pads waiting to go on but am thinking of changing the discs as well. I have read through most of the excellent threads already posted on this subject but my research has left me with a couple of questions for those of you that have already done this job themselves:

1. Where did you get your new discs from and how much did you pay?
2. What sort of piston retraction (wind back) tool did you use or did you resort to water pump pliers or a large screwdriver?
3. What type of loctite did you use (you did use some thread locking compound didn't you???)

Many thanks

Paul

1. I'd personally only go Genuine (at least whilst in wty) So The Large One is your friend there....
2. When I changed my pads, I used a suitably sized piece of wood, counter levered to keep it level in tthe piston. I retracted them with the worn pads in place to minimise potential damage. If you're doing one side at a time, there should be no problem with this.
3. Had new bolts in the kit, didn't use locking compound, just torqued up properly.

If changing the disks, I'd also change the EPB shoes too. Discomikey had a set at a great price.

Mine's not in warranty any more but I would still prefer to use genuine discs. I'll drop TLO a pm and get a price. I'll also see if Discomikey's still got his EPB shoes (I've already bought his pads off him Laughing )

Thanks Ian Thumbs Up
