rear brake shield

when replacing rear brake pads I noticed that the brake shield has a rusty edge and parts getting loose from it.

As it is a major undertaking to change it I wonder if it is any danger to let it be and wait until the bushes and bearings has to be changed. Discovery 3, MY2008, TDV6 Auto, G4 Tangiers Orange
