Rear ladder fitted...

So after a bit of a European tour ( Laughing ), mine and Charles' rear ladders reached Luxembourg. We fitted them this morning.

Took us about an hour to do both - we were very cautious, spent time checking as well as talking...

Very pleased with the product - well made and looks good. Instructions generally easy to follow and the pictures are a great help. We haven't used the rivnuts (simply because we don't have a tool...) but I don't see that being a problem.

The grip-tape is very grippy and well fastened.

The GNvehicleprotection name doesn't really show on a black D3. Was better on Charles' grey D3. (Sorry - forgot to get a picture of Charles' ladder before he left Rolling Eyes )

In the end, we fitted some double sided sticky tape/pad to the top bracket. We found the ladder did move around a bit. Now it is on solid. I would recommend this.

And now the best bit - SWMBO asked "so why did Charles' package need to be delivered to our house...?". "Ah" I said "that's because there were two items in the box..." Laughing "But why do you need a ladder if there is no roof rack...?"...."Ah" I said again..."I knew there was something I'd forgotten to mention to you..." Whistle Laughing )
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

With reference to the double sided tape, LR fit the tape on their ladders at the top. Without it I can't imagine what would stop the ladder moving forward at the top (potentially causing damage when you next opened the tailgate).

Perhaps an oversight by GNVP ??

Iain G,

All been rectified now Thumbs Up

The claw goes either side of the boot hinge so in this instance it would'nt have gone anywhere, just a bit 'rattly'.

IanG - Understand your comment/concern. But TBH, there was no risk of any damage. We checked by opening/closing the tail gate, standing on it, moving it etc. There was just some play at the top when you physically moved the ladder. That was when you noticed it - the ladder wasn't shifting out of position, so to speak, when released from our hands.

But easily fixed. And good to see the GNVP have rectified it going forward Thumbs Up

Forgot to add that the ladder looks very good. The sticky tape stuff is only minor detail of course so full credit to GNVP. I saw these ladders just days after fitting my LR ladder so could have saved my self some money. Got my eye on the GNVP sump guard for next purchase Thumbs Up - Though will probably have to wait untill the other side of chrimbo. Sad

If your looking for one in the current style you best be quick.

We have a new style prototyping in two weeks which will take over from our current design and stock Thumbs Up

Keep up Neil - the Pro Rack sits lower than the expo and the ladder fouls it. Might be time for a quick chat with your R&D team.....
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I know it wont fit the current ProSpeed rack, but I assumed Ken ment the 'Pro' as in OEM rack Thumbs Up

TBH do we know the design of the pro rack?

(Fits all others though that are in production and on the market Thumbs Up )

SJR,

Its not finalised yet as far as I know from Olly as the OEM ladder will not fit it - So I beleive there is some redesign going on, either ladder or rack wise Thumbs Up
